VA employees cannot solicit funds to support an education activity from an outside source (including individuals, corporations, or organizations) in their official positions. SIBCR will make the request or submit the application.
Please contact spo@sibcr.org if you have questions about the education process or grant administration. SIBCR’s education activities must be relevant to our mission and approved by VA before the project may begin.
These activities are approved under the Nonprofit Corporation Authorizing Statute, Public Law 106-117, codified as §38 U.S.C. 7361-7366. More information about this statutory authority can be found on the National Association of Veterans’ Research and Education Foundations’ website.
SIBCR’s education activities are separate from the academic training and fellowship programs that the VA undertakes in collaboration with its academic affiliate institutions.
